When we are ready for action, we’re poised and prepared to dive in, take the leap, make the jump.
Lack of preparation, clarity and discipline are the 3 issues most people have when it comes to not taking action. They’re neither clear on what they want the outcome to be, they don’t put in the planning needed and lack the discipline to make it happen. People often say it’s the self belief, or ‘right’ attitude and I agree with that to a degree, however what I see amongst clients, and I’ve watched it with champions, is it is really about the discipline.
It’s about those little things we do regularly, consistently that make a big difference.
Saying no instead of yes, sticking to the plan, instead of getting distracted or persuaded otherwise. It’s standing up for yourself and being your own champion, including having those tough conversations with yourself, when the commitment starts to waiver or falter.
Planning really counts for a lot, because when we have a specific action plan, with clear outcomes set, the direction is known, clearly articulated and thought through, then steps detailed, it takes some of the spontaneity, flexibility out of it, which I know I love, however it does mean, it’s planned, organised and the process is there, all you need to do is follow it. Which is why clarity is then also so important.
When we really, truly and fully know why we we’re doing something and what it means to us, there is a very clear calling. With this clarity, then comes focus, commitment and the edge when combined with the preparation and discipline. Regardless of whether this is about getting your household chores done, a big work project, launching a new website, changing careers, whatever the topic, focus on these 3 keys and you’ll notice a difference rapidly in how effective you are, how ready for action you become.
